چکیده

Background Levels of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) have been associated with overall survival (OS) in metastatic breast [1-] and prostate cancer []. Here we report the preliminary associations between CTCs and OS in subjects receiving an autologous adenoviral transduced dendritic cell (DC) vaccine expressing human HER2 extracellular (EC) and transmembrane (TM) domains (AdHER2ECTM) in adults with advanced metastatic tumors with 1-3+ HER2 expression. The clinical translation of this vaccine platform was based on animal models that documented regression and cure of large established tumors in syngeneic BALB/c mice using an adenoviral vector vaccine expressing rodent HER2 ECTM mediated by the induction of polyclonal anti-HER2 antibodies [3].

Correlation of HER2, MDM2, c-MYC, c-MET, and TP53 Copy Number Alterations in Circulating Tumor Cells with Tissue in Gastric Cancer Patients: A Pilot Study

Background: The analysis of the gene copy number alterations in tumor samples are increasingly used for diagnostic and prognostic purposes in patients with gastric cancer (GC). However, these procedures are not always applicable due to their invasive nature. In this study, we have analyzed the copy number alterations of five genes (HER2, MDM2, c-MYC, c-MET, and TP53) with a fixed relevance for ...

HER2-positive circulating tumor cells indicate poor clinical outcome in stage I to III breast cancer patients.

PURPOSE Early metastasis in node-negative breast cancer indicates that breast cancer cells obviously can bypass the lymph nodes and disseminate directly hematogenous to distant organs. For this purpose, we evaluated the prognostic value of blood-borne, HER2-positive circulating tumor cells (CTC) in the peripheral blood from 42 breast cancer patients with a median follow-up of 95 months. EXPER...

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in metastatic breast cancer (MBC): prognosis, drug resistance and phenotypic characterization.

BACKGROUND the expression of ATP-binding cassette transporters on circulating tumor cells (CTCs) is predictive of response to chemotherapy in cancer patients. We tested the hypothesis that drug-resistant CTCs might have predictive value in metastatic breast cancer (MBC) and possibly retain stem-like properties. PATIENTS AND METHODS CTCs obtained from 42 MBC patients were evaluated for multidr...

Changing levels of circulating tumor cells in monitoring chemotherapy response in patients with metastatic breast cancer.

BACKGROUND The detection of >5 circulating tumor cells (CTCs)/7.5 ml blood in patients being treated for metastatic breast cancer (MBC) has recently been shown to be predictive for therapy efficacy. The aim of this study was to investigate whether changing CTC levels during the course of chemotherapy treatment would also be useful in monitoring response to treatment. PATIENTS AND METHODS CTC ...

Circulating tumor cells in immunohistochemical subtypes of metastatic breast cancer: lack of prediction in HER2-positive disease treated with targeted therapy.

BACKGROUND Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are associated with inferior prognosis in metastatic breast cancer (MBC). We hypothesized that the relationship between CTCs and disease subtype would provide a better understanding of the clinical and biologic behavior of MBC. PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively analyzed 517 MBC patients treated at a single institution. Subtypes of primary tumors...
